Adventures in Living with the Jacksons

I have eight nieces and nephews. I get to see most of them on a fairly regular basis. Kane and Daisy now live very close to me and I see them often enough to include them in my scrapbook layouts. These pictures were taken at Thanksgiving (which also happened to be Daisy’s birthday). It’s fun to take pictures of them because they instantly want to see their picture. In my day (ha!) we had to wait!! I’ve wanted to scrap these pictures but have been unable to feel the layout until recently. I used Lizz’s new kit, Bella. Dixie is one of the most expressive dogs I’ve known. You know exactly what mood she is in just by looking at her. This picture was taken during one of our “oooo she let me on the bed” moments. Today’s layout has been waiting almost two years to be done. The picture is from the day my father-in-law was buried. Emily and Nicholas are in constant contact with Zech and Kara. They get to see each other every summer. But, surprisingly enough, I have just a small number of pictures with all four of them. I took the opportunity to take several pictures while we were visiting for the funeral.

I have a process I go through to “feel the layout” that needs to be done. I generally use only one picture and some wordart to tell the story. I’m not big on journaling because I never really know what to say. Once I find the wordart I want to use, I almost instantly know what picture I want to go with it. That is how this layout came to be.

The story behind this layout really isn’t all that exciting. But there is a story. I am very hard on my electronic equipment. I believe in using it to the fullest extent and even sometimes pushing beyond it’s limits. My poor Blackberry Curve was dropped on the ground more times than it’s little trackball could eventually stand. It was dying a fast death. Scott was eligible for a phone upgrade, I was not. So, off we went to Cingular for him to get a new iphone and me to get his hand-me-down.

This picture of Emily was me experimenting with the camera. She decided she wanted to be goofy and this was the picture I ended up with initially. I did get a nicer picture to use as her avatar on the phone, but I wanted to scrap this one because it just shows off her goofy personality to a T.
