Days 4-7
Day 4: We went back to the Diamond mine today. Because it was overcast and slightly rainy, we didn’t stay very long. (This is what I love about an unplanned vacation.) We decided to go back to the B&B, watch the race and just hang out. Scott went out with Buddy on their boat in the evening and I stayed back at the B&B and lounged.
Day 5: Scott wanted to go out to Coleman’s Quartz Mine. It was about two hours away. This was probably the worst day of our vacation. Thankfully, they guarantee their fees. We were able to “buy” product worth our entrance fees because we really didn’t find anything out there. It was neat seeing the pit, though. This was also the day I got sunburned. I was out for my “normal” length of time but since it was different territory than my norm, I got sunburned much more quickly. I’m past the heat and sting stage and well into the just-dont-touch-me stage. It’s only my legs, arms and neck but it’s still tender. (Lest you wonder why I’m burned, I’m allergic to sunscreen.)
Day 6: Another travel day. We took a different route home with a bonus side trip. Lambert’s Cafe! I have wanted to eat here for a long time and finally got the chance. It was worth every penny just to be able to catch my hot roll. The guy throwing them has perfect aim!
Day 7: We spent this day just catching up at home. Laundry was done. We visited my parents and returned their car. (Thank you for letting us use it!) We generally just did those things that need to be done to get back into the swing of things.
Dixie is back home with us and looking oh-so-pregnant. We are expecting a litter of puppies July 14. The kids are doing well on their vacation. It’s always a good sign when we don’t hear from them. Things in general are going well.

Wait – did you go through Ozark on your way home? Sweet! (My family's from that area.)
