Days 1 – 3
Day 1: Travel from Jefferson City to Murfreesboro, Arkansas. We checked into our beautiful bed and breakfast, Diamond Oaks Inn. We had dinner at Buddy’s Ranch House Cafe which is owned by the same people who own the B&B.
Day 2: We hunted diamonds in the morning at Crater Diamond State Park. We left for lunch and decided we didn’t really want to go back. We hung out at the B&B pool and just had a leisurely afternoon and evening.
Day 3: We went to Wegner’s Crystal Mine. They decided to reopen an old mine and we were the first ones to go hunt crystals at this mine that had not been mined for more than eight years. We had an absolute blast! We also “hunted gems”. They have pre-made buckets of dirt with semi-precious stones in them. These are generally for the younger kids but I love the fact that I now have some uncut gems and crystals. It really was a lot of fun.
We are now back at the B&B after sharing some of the owner’s birthday cake at the restaurant. We plan on watching the race and we’ll go diamond hunting again tomorrow.
